The European Commission regularly reviews whether exemptions to lead regulations should continue, including the end-of-life vehicles (ELV) directive scheduled for review in 2021.
In order to assess this scientifically and technologically, a working group of the European Commission prepared a questionnaire for industry representatives. As a supplier of lead-free brass, we, Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (Company President: Yasunobu Suzuki; Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) participated in this survey.
We provided examples of ECO BRASS cutting processes, as well as cutting conditions and tool selection suitable for cutting in each case, along with the results to date using ECO BRASS, for which demand is expanding worldwide.
In addition, some of the characteristics and cutting examples of GloBrass, our newly developed lead-free brass, were also introduced.
Our response to the questionnaire has already been published on the website of the European Commission's working group.
